LEGO City & X-mas Party
2016-12-22
The last session of the ArchitekturAkademie für Kinder saw the completion of the LEGO city under the digital projections from the overhead projector. After the Course ended, the kids were joined by their guardians to enjoy the legendary AA X-mas Party with non-alcoholic Höfer-secco and tasty homemade cookies. One of the highlights of the evening was the handing out of certificates and Christmas gifts to the students, who took part in the Autumn Courses. The ArchitekturAkademie für Kinder will start again in the beginning of 2017. Happy holidays to everyone!

The theme of the Calendar is World Architecture History & Styles - of course interpreted in a very colourful and playful way. AA making Calendar 2017

The ArchitekturAkademie für Kinder started making the legendary bilingual (Finnish-German) Childrens Architecture Calendar for 2017. All the freehand drawings are based on and inspired by World Architecture History. The publication of the new Calendar will be in mid-November 2016, so get ready to purchase your own.

FIN-GER Architecture Biennale 2016
2016-07-12
The official opening and lecture of the FIN-GER Architecture Biennale 2016 was at the Fürstensaal in the Würzburg Residence. Architect Anssi Lassila talked about the different projects made by OOPEAA and received the Goldfinger Prize for Making Ideas.
After the lecture guests moved over to the Bürgerbräu Old Brewery to the official opening of the Wooden Cave exhibition at the FIN-GER. The evening continued into the night with the Sekt and fingerfood, fans meeting the architect, selling of OOPEAA books and Anssi signing a limited edition of päre (pieces of wood transported from Finland to Germany).
The Wooden Cave is open to the public between 12-18. Welcome!

The FIN-GER Architecture Biennale presents top Finnish and German contemporary architects and their architecture. The idea is to arrange the Biennale every year and to alternate the guest country. The first FIN-GER Architecture Biennale 2015 will begin with German architect Jürgen Mayer H. from Berlin. Juhannus

FIN-GER in collaboration with the Deutsch-Finnische Gesellschaft are arranging Juhannus - Finnish Midsummer Party at Bürgerbräu Old Brewery on Friday, 24.06.2016 between 18:00-22:00. Traditionally the Juhannus is celebrated until the next morning - or until the end of summer holidays, so be prepared for Afterparty Party. The program includes nanokino (documentary film of Finnish Tango), tango dancing in the garage, loimulohi salmon slow roasting on open bonfire, grilling sausages the original Finnish way, beer and other drinks, as well as games and competitions.

The kids of the ArchitekturAkademie für Kinder are making a 1:100 scale model of the urban square in downtown Würzburg. As the present day square is nameless, the kids decided to use a working title "Neumann Platz" after the famous Baroque architect Balthasar Neumann (1687-1753).

Vernissage of au+cu

The Vernissage of the au+cu Photography Exhibition began at 19:00 and went on until early next morning. The guests enjoyed meeting the artists, listening to Australian and Cuban music and eating the grilled sausages, beef and vegetarian delights - and of course drinking the fabulous breverages supplied from the FIN-GER Havana Club.
At the Vernissage, the first FIN-GER Print au+cu book was officially published to honour 400th anniversary of William Shakespheare. Also the sale of photographs began with the purchase of four framed and signed images from the Limited Collection.

Moomins Workshop

FIN-GER arranged a Moomins Workshop at the Kirschblütenfest on Saturday. The guest took cover from the chilly weather in the warm Store and tried their skills in drawing croquis of Moomins figures. The first set of images was displayed for 2 minutes, the second pair for 1 minute and the last character for 30 seconds. The Workshop was very popular and and filled the Store with lots of laughs.

Opening of Zeller Bock

FIN-GER took part in the opening day of the Zeller Bock - the ending of roadworks of one of the major entries to the city. The Bürgerbräu Old Brewery was crowded with people popping into the stores and enjoying the tasty local food and cool music. The FIN-GER Store offered a possibility for the public to see and participate in the making of the au+cu Photography Exhibition.

AA Kids in Downtown

The kids of the ArchitekturAkademie für Kinder started working on an urban design project in downtown Würzburg. They found a square without a name (!!!), which has the perfect location and size for a lively urban place. The kids used their iPads to photograph the surroundings and to document the details, both positive and negative, of the present day situation.

The FIN-GER Store served as a backstage storage room for the 87 Bar in the Old Horse Stables at the Bürgerbräu Old Brewery. The Lounge was filled up with the tables and chairs from the 87 Bar in order to make space for a gourmet dinner set-up for invited culinaristas.

Grant for Teaching Architecture to Kids

The Ministry of Education and Culture, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and National Council for Architecture, Design and Environmental Art awarded a major Grant (8000 €) to Matthias Braun and Juhani Karanka to teach architecture to children in Germany. With the generous support from Finland, the ArchitekturAkademie für Kinder continues to develop new Courses and Workshops to the children in and around Würzburg.

The FIN-GER Store functioned as a Dressing Room for the s.Oliver Fashion Photo Shoot at the Bürgerbräu Old Brewery. In between changing of clothes and putting on the appropriate make-up, the models, designers and crew enjoyed tasty brunch.

FIN-GER Art Collection Vernissage

The FIN-GER Art Collection Vernissage attracted art lovers to the Store on a chilly Saturday evening. Happy mix of art works on the WestWall and EastWall as well as in the ArtBox express the diversity of art and artists on show. The evening included Finnish homemade meatballs (lihapullat) and cinnamon rolls (korvapuusti), delicious drinks from Sektkellerei Höfer, Via del Gusto - and of course shots of the legendary Panzerkette (Telaketju). Also a new digestive drink was introduced to the guests enjoying the relaxed mood: The Schneekette (Lumiketju). The Exhibition is now open for the next two weeks and everyone's welcome to take a stroll in the Store.
